This introductory webinar outlines the types of cables typically used in buildings and discusses the function of circuit protection devices such as fuses, miniature circuit breakers and residual current devices (RCDs)
Cables and busbars are used for distributing electrical power to where it is needed in a building. They are safety-critical, as incorrectly sized cables can overheat, causing burns and fires. Also, certain types of cable can degrade in a fire situation and generate large amounts of smoke which can impede escape for occupants and access for firefighters.
This introductory webinar outlines the types of cables typically used in buildings, and the means of supporting and containing them. It discusses the function of circuit protection devices such as fuses, miniature circuit breakers and residual current devices (RCDs).
Delegates will need access to a calculator, as a short cable sizing exercise will be included. Please register your interest in attending this course by emailing webinars@bsria.co.uk.
