John is author of the Design Manager’s Handbook, published by CIOB/Wiley Blackwell in 2013. #UKBIM2, a short guide to level 2, self published 2015. The Construction Manager’s BIM Handbook, published 2016, also by Wiley. He is currently researching a PhD related to BIM and Design Management at Leeds Beckett University.
Experience
John qualified as an Architect in 1981 and became Chartered RIBA the following year. His experience spans over 40 years in the Built Environment, in various roles for differing organisations, ranging from project architect, to site architect, design manager, design director, trainer, coach, facilitator, author and lecturer/speaker.
Building types John has worked on include schools, colleges, historic buildings, prisons, churches, retail, offices, residential and one off houses.
For the last 21 years John has specialised in construction design management with major contractors, both in pre-construction, work winning and site delivery. Also more recently BIM and digital consultancy and support.
