Dave Saville has been appointed as the new Wates regional managing director to support commercial, residential and infrastructure development in the North of England

Wates Construction has announced the appointment of Dave Saville as the new regional managing director of the North of England, who will report to Wates Construction MD Mark Tant.

Saville has almost 30 years of experience in the industry and joined Wates Construction in 2019 as Regional Director. He has since overseen key projects for Wates including the AstraZeneca Macclesfield Campus and The Sands Centre in Cumbria.

Saville will oversee Wates’ ongoing developments in the North of England, such as new schools, offices leisure facilities and homes

Wates Construction is currently working on a wide variety of projects in the North, such as the first batch of net zero schools for the Department for Education (DfE) in the North West as part of the DfE’s 10-year School Rebuilding Programme.

Works were recently completed on the Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Smethwick. The state-of-the-art facility which includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool, 25m diving pool, and seating for 1,000 spectators, will be the focus of international competition this summer, as well as creating a legacy for community health and wellbeing.

Key contracts won by Wates Construction in 2021 include the design of Envision AESC’s advanced car battery gigafactory in South Tyneside and Sunderland, and becoming the pre-construction stage partner for the British Library redevelopment at Boston Spa.

Wates are also working on a sustainable business community at Wellington Place in Leeds, which has been rated BREAAM Outstanding.
