Galliford Try’s Kevin O’Brien shortlisted for CIOB Construction Manager of the Year

Kevin O’Brien has been named as a finalist for the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) annual awards, with a nomination for the CIOB Construction Manager of the Year award

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has nominated senior project manager for Galliford Try West Midlands and South West Kevin O’Brien as a finalist for the CIOB Construction Manager of the Year award.

The nomination celebrates Kevin’s achievements in the higher education construction sector

Kevin has been nominated for the Construction Manager of the Year Award in the Higher Education category, for The Exchange building for the University of Birmingham.

This follows The Exchange project that was previously awarded the Heritage Project of the Year by the West Midlands Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Conservation and Preservation Award at the Constructing Excellence West Midlands Awards.

Commenting on his nomination, Kevin said: “It is an honour to be nominated for this award and I’m happy to see that all our hard work and dedication that we put into each project is being recognised.“

The winners of the CIOB Awards will be announced on 28 September

Previous winner’s include Marc Burton, who delivered a delivered a 180-bed Nightingale hospital on the island of Jersey during the covid-19 pandemic under budget and in less than four weeks.

This year, the Chartered Institute of Building awards return to London and will be hosted by radio and television presenter Anita Rani. In total, just over 70 construction managers and organisations have been shortlisted for 14 awards from across the industry.
