UL Solutions to open larger testing and certification facility in Telford

UL Solutions, a global leader in applied safety science, is opening a new, larger testing and certification facility at its Telford centre in the UK to provide a single location for manufacturers of doors, windows, hardware and building envelope systems

Located on the Halesfield 2 industrial park in Telford, the expansion will allow the facility to provide mechanical testing and certification for physical security, durability and performance of doors, windows and hardware, alongside weather resistance testing and performance mock-up testing for full-scale wall assemblies, including rainscreen cladding, glazed roofs, window assemblies and curtain walls.

Karine Johnfroe, vice-president and general manager of the UL Solutions Built Environment group, said: “For many years, we have supported the facade industry from our Telford centre, working with manufacturers and fabricators of curtain wall systems, rainscreen products and other building elements to help them access global markets faster and more effectively through our independent testing and certification services.

The new combined facilities will help customers achieve a wide range of certifications

UL Solutions at Telford will be able to accommodate a variety of window and door configurations, testing to a range of industry-recognised standards, including PAS 24 for security and BS 6375 for weather tightness, operation, strength and durability. It has the latest equipment to test windows, doors and architectural ironmongery, as well as testing skylights for air, rain and wind.
