Morrison Construction, part of the Galliford Try Group, has reached a financial close on a £45.2m hospital project in Edinburgh.
Morrison Construction will build a specialist mental health facility/hospital on behalf of NHS Lothian through the Hub South East Scotland contract.
The hospital will be situated on the western edge of the existing campus in Morningside, Edinburgh. It will include a new national brain injuries unit in an adjacent building. This will replace the existing Robert Fergusson Unit.
Galliford Try is set to invest £2.2m towards funding the project and will provide ongoing maintenance services worth £18m over the 25 year concession period.
Executive Chairman of the group Greg Fitzgerald said: “Our relationship with Hub South East Scotland is an important element of our Morrison Construction business in Scotland and we are pleased to be selected for this significant health project for NHS Lothian.”
It is expected phase one of the project will be completed by 2016. However, the entire project at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital may take up to ten years to finish.
