The light steel framing solutions company, Fusion Steel Framing, will work with housebuilder The Hill Group on the redevelopment of the Kew Bridge Rise project in West London
Fusion Steel Framing will fabricate 13,720 square metres of land using their TraxTM product. This will form a steel frame system that will span five buildings of up to 18 storeys high.
TraxTM is an economical non-load bearing infill system that creates rapid dry building envelopes on steel-framed buildings. Fusion will apply RCM DensGlas external boards to build the openings of the Kew Bridge Rise. Kingspan K-Roc insulation will be also installed to fit brick tie channels.
The Kew Bridge Rise project will provide 441 new homes
Kew Bridge Rise will deliver 441 new homes, 50% of which will be affordable. Construction has already started on the steel frame system, and the project is expected to be complete by 2026.
The Hill Group acquired Fusion in 2022 to progress the company’s expertise in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). This has allowed The Hill Group to use techniques such as the light gauge steel frames that will be used on Kew Bridge Rise Gardens.
The TraxTM will be manufactured at Fusion’s high-grade 80,000ft2 factory in Northampton, which is capable of producing 30,000m2 of light steel annually. Kew Bridge Rise will feature a concrete frame structure and will use TraxTM to infill between floors.
TraxTM steel framing facilitates faster construction
“The key advantage of using Fusions’ trail-blazing TraxTM system is the ability to rapidly accelerate construction projects while de-risking the process of installing a structural framework system. The system also reduces fire risk, which is always at the forefront of our construction design,” said Cain Peters, regional director at The Hill Group.
“This extensive redevelopment project will be an impressive example of the capabilities of delivering prefabricated steel frame systems at scale,” he added.
The redevelopment will feature a new public square as well as substantial investment for the improvement of local infrastructure. The project will also provide a myriad of social benefits for the local area, such as investments in employment, training and community opportunities.
