GRAHAM will deliver major works on the high rise residential Blashford Tower project, improving fire safety and energy performance
Blashford Tower is a major building within the Clalcots Estate, which dates back to the 1960s.
The 19-story building contains 73 flats, and the project is now on site.
Cladding and fire safety compliance are priorities for the project
Works on Blashford Tower include the replacement of the current windows and the installation of new cladding with solid aluminium panels with a natural anodised finish.
The project, which is now on site, will encompass a wide range of works designed to achieve fire safety compliance and improve energy performance. The new cladding system will be fully fire-tested and A1 rated.
New insulation in the undercrofts will help prevent damp in ground floor flats, and new windows will provide better ventilation in high heat. There will also be a new roof and replaced brickwork at ground and first floor levels.
A maintenance rail system on each block will allow safer cleaning and maintenance of windows and the facades.
Works will be delivered in two phases and all works are expected to be completed by spring 2025, according to Camden Council.
Working collaboratively with the Blashford Tower community
Rob Joyce, GRAHAM regional director, said: “This project will play a crucial role in bringing Blashford Tower up to modern standards and compliance with safety regulations. We look forward to working collaboratively with our project partners and stakeholders to restore the tower for the benefit of its residents and the wider community.”
Astrid Kjellberg-Obst, project director at Camden Council, said: “We are delighted to be working with Graham to deliver a high-quality building envelope refurbishment for our Blashford residents, ensuring fire safety, improved insulation, and ventilation as well as wellbeing for current and future residents.”
