Police Crime Prevention Initiatives

Julian Hurst is the Communications Manager for Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI).

Police CPI is a not-for-profit police owned organisation, self-funded through its prevention activities. Part of the NPCC Prevention Coordination Committee, Police CPI works closely with central government, manufacturers and companies involved in security products (within the UK and those in countries that supply the UK), standards authorities and key stakeholders such as Planners, Architects, Developers, Local Authorities, Housing Associations, academia and the public. Police CPI initiatives include Secured by Design (SBD), SBD’s Secure Connected Device accreditation for IoT connected products, the Police Crime Police Academy and Licensing SAVI amongst others.

Julian previously worked in the Metropolitan Police Service, both borough based and in the Met’s Press Office. His role included developing media statements, press releases and news articles on multiple issues, delivering reactive and pro-active media within tight timeframes, arranging and facilitating media briefings where necessary and supporting the Met’s local and social media engagement across all London boroughs.
