UK Construction Week (UKCW) has announced that the National Retrofit Hub (NRH) will take over the Net Zero stage on 02 October
National Retrofit Hub (NRH) will curate all of the content on the Net Zero stage throughout the day on Wednesday 02 October – the second day of UKCW at NEC Birmingham.
The programme for the Net Zero stage
The programme of scheduled shows on the Net Zero stage is as follows:
- 10:15am – New Waste Management Legislation: Impacts on the UK Construction Industry – An overview of the recent changes to UK waste management legislation and how it will impact the construction sector. Gain insight into key interpretations, examples of necessary adjustments, and a timeline of implementation.
- 11:15am – What do we need from EPC reform to enable retrofit at scale? – The finance, manufacturing, and technology speak on what they need from the EPC reform to support building upgrade. Panel includes NRH co-director Rachel Owens, CEO of Lendology Emma Lower, and Knauf Insulation technical director Steven Heath, amongst others.
- 12:15pm – Retrofitting Heritage Buildings – Presentation of two case studies of large scale heritage buildings, which had performance upgrades and designs for the future implemented. Lead by XRI founder Dr Ahsan Khan, Innovate UK UKRI’s innovation lead Laura Forster, amongst others.
- 02:15pm – Retrofitting Housing at Scale – The National Retrofit Hub presents research into the scale of residential retrofit delivery across the UK, and the effectiveness of current delivery models.
- 03:15pm – Commercial Retrofit, Repositioning & Adaptive Reuse – Buckley Gray Yeoman’s board director, Andrew Henriques, and Heyne Tillett Steel’s senior associate, research and innovation, Laura Batty, look at how developers are repositioning, reimagining, and reinventing underutilised buildings.

UKCW has previously announced the Net Zero Trail — of which the Net Zero stage will be a part — designed to showcase all the latest innovations and strategies working towards net zero in the construction industry.
