Alister Scott is a professor of environmental geography and planning and one of the UK’s leading experts on nature and sustainable land use. His research addresses “messy” problems concerning policy and decision making across both built and natural environments.
He was appointed as the sole special adviser to the House of Lords Select Committee investigating land use in England in 2023.
He has also been awarded a Fellowship of the Academy of Social Sciences, after being nominated by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) for his work finding new ways to improve policy and decision-making across built and natural environments.
