Insulation specialist Actis has underlined its determination to lead the way in minimising the negative impact of construction materials manufactured across the continent in its video Recycling & Sustainability – doing more with less
The Doing More with Less approach looks at the environmental pluses of the newest addition to its range, two-in-one reflective insulation with integrated vapour barrier, Eolis HC and the sustainability credentials of its long-established Hybrid range.
These include honeycomb-style insulation, Hybris, Europe’s only Cradle-to-Cradle Certified® reflective insulation, which means it meets stringent sustainability criteria.
The C2C Certified® Bronze certification, awarded by global circular economy organisation the Cradle-to-Cradle Products Innovation Institute, saw Hybris measured against five rigorous criteria: product circularity; material health; clean air and climate protection; water and soil stewardship; and social fairness.
Indeed, it achieved a silver level in the product circularity category as Hybris is 100% recyclable, and its zero-waste production process sees all off-cuts recovered, crushed and reintroduced into the manufacturing process.
The C2C Certified® certification underlines Actis’ pledge to encourage the construction industry to minimise its negative impact on the environment.
Actis’ ethos enables its production cycle to be more sustainable
Actis’ Recyclability & Sustainability video examines its threefold approach to sustainability – using fewer raw materials, using no water during the production process and using minimal energy during manufacture.
In fact, its energy represents just 2% of the manufacturing cost of the products.
And its carbon footprint is very low compared with that of other insulation products, at less than 2kg per sq m of CO2. Additionally, it offsets an element of its carbon use by planting native mature plane trees along the Canal du Midi, near its manufacturing plant in south-west France.
