Shop-fitting business Johnson Construction UK has gone into administration, making more than three-quarters of its workforce redundant…
Johnson Construction UK, which specialises in shop fitting, building contracting, and property development has collapsed.
The Greater Manchester business, which has its headquarters in Delph near Oldham, was founded in 2002.
The company reported a turnover of £16.9m in its latest set of accounts. In a strategic report published at the time, the directors said: “The construction market continued to be extremely difficult and challenging but the business made considerable progress in its turnaround plan.
“Revenue in the year was sustained and saw an annualised equivalent of just a 0.4 per cent growth but from a different mix of customers than in the previous period.”
However, the company failed on the 12 March. Administrators Russell Cash and Ben Woolrych, partners at FRP Advisory, were called in to oversee proceedings.
More than three-quarters of the workforce are set to lose their jobs as a result. Any associated group companies will continue to operate as normal.
FRP Advisory said: “Circumstances were such that activity levels had reduced significantly in 2015.
“After an evaluation of the company’s financial position, the joint administrators have regrettably made 16 of the company’s 20 staff redundant.
“Four staff members have been retained in the short term to assist the joint administrators.
“Efforts are currently being concentrated on evaluating the position with regards to work in progress and completed work to ensure recoveries are maximised.”
