A planning application has been submitted for hundreds of new homes on the site of a former RAF base in Uxbridge…

A former RAF base in Uxbridge could become the site of a new housing development if plans are approved.

The detailed plans were submitted in a joint venture by construction groups Vinci and St Modwen. The proposal, if accepted, would see 249 homes built on a triangular plot at St Andrew’s Park.

A variety of properties are included in the plans ranging from studio flats to three-bedroom apartments.

Some will be sold or rented privately, but there will also be a number of affordable properties built.

The former RAF base already has outline planning for 1,300 homes. Charles Church and Persimmon Homes are building 130 new properties.

Residential Land Director at St Modwen Rob Barton said: “This is a very significant stage for the project as we are building these homes ourselves rather than simply selling on the plots of land.

“We’re also looking at a large number and a wide variety of homes here – from one bed studio apartments to three bed family homes.

“Offering something for everyone with some affordable, some to be sold and some to be privately rented.”
