Architect firm HLM has been awarded BIM certification ahead of the government’s April deadline for public sector projects…

From April this year all public sector projects will be required to meet Building Information Modelling (BIM) Level 2 standards. As the sector readies itself for change some firms are getting ahead of the curve.

International architects HLM are among those who have shown determination to meet Level 2 before the mandatory rules come into force later this year.

The firm was awarded BRE Global’s BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification. This assesses the ability of a business to deliver BIM, as well as meeting PAS 1192-2:2013 and PAS 91 standards. To qualify for certification the business must also demonstrate its ability to meet the requirements of an employer to implement BIM on a project.

HLM now has an industry-recognised credential that enables the firm to compete for public sector construction projects, adhering to the 2016 government mandate. Additionally, certification also provides assurance to clients that the firm is able to deliver best value through processes that reduce costs, improve efficiencies, and deliver quality results.

Commenting on the certification, HLM director Nick Beecroft said: “BIM is essential for the future development of the built environment.

“Achieving BIM certification allows us to extend our engagement with the public sector and be fully-aligned to work in partnership with both existing and new clients.”

BRE Group Director for BIM Guy Hammersley said: “Congratulations to HLM – we need more companies to be inspired by the early adopters and get to grips with BIM business certification as it will ultimately lead them to be more competitive in the public sector market.”
