New building information modelling training programmes will be provided by Preston’s College in partnership with software firm Quadra Solutions…

As the construction sector moves ever closer to the mandatory BIM Level 2 deadline there is a need for greater understanding within the industry. As a result a number of new training programmes have sprung up across the country, aimed at providing insight into the mechanisms of BIM.

Preston’s College is to become the latest education facility to offer new BIM training programmes. The college announced it has entered a partnership with Accrington-based software firm Quadra Solutions to deliver the programmes.

It is hoped the courses will allow engineering and construction firms in the north of England to provide their staff with the necessary skills needed to implement BIM.

Lee Clegg, of Quadra Solutions said: “Through BIM, the UK construction industry is undergoing its very own digital revolution.

“With demand for BIM-compliant projects growing at an increasing rate, it is important for many organisations to understand how to get involved in an effective and structured way to meet the new regulations.“

The programme will be led by the college’s employer-facing service ROI Solutions. Head of employer engagement Lisa Edge said the course was necessary to ensure the industry has the right skill set in the future.

“We’re delighted to have Quadra Solutions on board as our latest partner.

“Its approach towards skills delivery is very much aligned with our entire ethos and vision at the college, which is to provide businesses with the most employable workforce that possess the skills, experience and qualifications that the company and their industry wants and needs.“

She added: “Working in alliance with Quadra Solutions and its skilled team will also enable us to increase our reach across the North and access more businesses and learners than before.”
