A number of construction companies have been awarded the ‘Most Considerate Site’ at the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s 2017 National Site Awards
The highest performing construction sites across the UK have been awarded the title ‘Most Considerate Site’.
Six sites were granted the accolade at the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s 2017 National Site Awards, which was held between 20 March and 7 April in Edinburgh, London and Manchester. The ceremonies saw some 3,000 guests attend from sites of all different sizes across the UK.
Highest level of consideration
The awards recognised Scheme-registered sites that have demonstrated the highest level of consideration. As well as the six Most Considerate Site Awards there were also some 848 National Site Awards presented out of a total of some 8,000 eligible to win. This included 337 bronze, 319 silver and 156 gold. There were also 30 runners up for the Most Considerate Site award.
The award was broken down into bands comprising of the following:
- Under £500k
- £500k to <£1m
- £1m to <£5m
- £5m to <£10m
- £10m to <£50m
- £50m and over
Winners of the Most Considerate Site award
Value Band 1: Under £500k
Robert Woodhead Ltd won this category with its King Edward Skate Plaza site. The project involved the construction of a new skate park located in the King Edward Park, Sneinton—a short distance from Nottingham city centre.
Value Band 2: £500k to <£1m
Wates Smartspace was awarded the title for its 800 sq m food hall within a retail unit in Dulwich, South East London.
Value Band 3: £1m to <£5m
This band was won by Interserve Construction Ltd. The firm was granted the award for its considerate work at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales. The hospital, on the outskirts of Cardiff, was undergoing external works to complement the recently completed facility.
Value Band 4: £5m to <£10m
Carillion Construction Ltd was given the award for this band due to its work on the construction of a new school, Discovery Academy, on the outskirts of Hattersley, Greater Manchester.
Value Band 5: £10m to <£50m
Band 5 was granted to Heron Bros Ltd. The firm won the award for the Foyle College and Ebrington Primary School & Nursery site, which was an ongoing contract to build a new college, primary school and nursery on a former army barracks in a residential area of Londonderry.
Value Band 6: £50m and over
The last band was won by Graham Bam Healthcare Partnership. This project involved the ongoing construction of a new seven-storey ward building at Ulster Hospital, Dundonald, Belfast.
Long-term legacy
Speaking about the awards, Considerate Constructors Scheme Executive Chairman Isabel Martinson said: “Congratulations to all 2017 National Site Award winners.
