A raft of new courses for building services professionals have been launched to help further knowledge and understanding of the building controls industry
The Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) is offering a suite of six courses for building services professionals.
The courses, which form part of the BCIA’s training programme, are designed to provide insight and expand knowledge of the building controls sector. This is an area that has great potential to improve energy efficiency in the built environment. As such the industry requires skilled people to ensure lifelong building performance.
Engineers and installers will benefit from the ‘BC2 – Measuring and Control Technology’. This will provide the necessary skills to understand the terminology used when discussing control technology. It will also examine the use of controls in depth.
Improving efficiency
BCIA president Malcolm Anson said the controls sector has a significant role to play in the built environment.
He added: “Building controls are key to improving energy efficiency. Investing in training will ensure individuals are equipped with the knowledge and skills to install effective control solutions to create energy efficient buildings.”
BC2 has been accredited by the CIBSE, with participants receiving a CPD certificate upon completion. To gain an industry-wide recognised Technical Certificate in Building Controls individuals must also undertake and pass BC1 and BC3.
Training programmes are held at training centres in Peterborough, Edenbridge and Rotherham.
