This year’s Timber Expo will cover all the latest developments from the industry, bringing together leading experts in the built environment
From the 10-12 October, Birmingham’s NEC will host the Timber Expo—the UK’s only event dedicated exclusively to timber.
The event will focus on a number of areas, including the latest developments from across the industry and new innovative products.
European firms will come together during the event to showcase their services. This year will also see leading authority TRADA collaborate to introduce speakers who will explore how the industry is developing and pushing boundaries. The Timber Focus Theatre will include discussions surrounding the use of wood, technical timber and how designers are working directly with fabricators.
TRADA is also co-ordinating an innovative timber installation with students from the Emergent Technologies and Design Programme at the Architectural Association. Sponsored by Hanson Plywood, designs will utilise extensive research on plywood composite material systems, such as the integration of doubly curved plywood forms or tensile cables.
Key areas to be covered
During the event advice and guidance will be delivered on fire prevention, changes to safety legislation, construction product safety and the responsibility of employers during the construction process.
Nathan Garnett, Event Director at Media 10, which runs the show, said: “In addition to showcasing the latest products and innovations across the timber sector, the Timber Expo will deliver the latest information on safety and quality in buildings for all in the built environment, from architects, contractors, local housing authorities, and developers.
