Colliers International’s Director of Planning, Jonathan Manns, has been awarded the prestigious “Young Surveyor of the Year” title at the 2017 RICS Matrics Young Surveyor of the Year Awards (YSOYA)

Jonathan beat competition from close to 150 professionals to gain the Young Surveyor of the Year title, as well as the Land (Rural & Urban) category accolade.

The annual awards recognise and celebrate the most inspirational young surveying professionals, aged 35 and under in the UK, who are helping to shape and improve local communities.

Jonathan’s extensive work and commitment to improving London’s built environment, addressing the city’s housing crisis and influencing change was what stood out to the judges.

David Keddie, head judge and Chairman of RICS Matrics commented: “The judges were impressed with the calibre of the projects Jonathan has driven and been involved in, along with the sheer volume and scope, so early in his career.  Jonathan is clearly someone who influences change and creates debate.”

Jonathan Manns, Director of Planning, added: “I’m honoured to have received this award and not least because of the exceptionally high calibre of other young professionals shortlisted. As an industry, we should be very proud of the fact that so many young surveyors are advising their clients at such high levels and having such positive influences on the built and natural environment. I am confident and hopeful that all of those whose efforts have been highlighted and celebrated at this event can serve as positive role models to those that follow in their footsteps”.

Jonathan became one of Colliers’ youngest Director’s in 2014, at age of 30. He is a strong advocate for the transformative power of property in positively shaping people and places, providing specialist advice on the use and development of property, from design to delivery, with experience managing complex and high-profile projects.

He is also Trustee of the London Society, a forum for built environment debate in London since 1912, and Convenor of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for London’s Planning and Built Environment, which has heard evidence on matters from green belt to the implications of the Grenfell Tower fire.
