By introducing onsite defibrillators, Manchester-based Principal Contractor, McGoff Construction, has initiated a companywide strategy to become a ‘heart safe’ business
Onsite defibrillators have been purchased by the company for their Head Office in Altrincham and their two largest construction sites; Downtown Manchester and HB Villages Northampton. McGoff Construction is working in partnership with local charity, Hand on Heart, to develop a plan that will ultimately ensure that every McGoff site is heart safe.
The charity will also be working with McGoff Construction to identify schools, nurseries and community groups that are local to McGoff’s construction sites and who need assistance with their defibrillator funding. The site teams will then fundraise with a view to purchasing and donating defibrillators to a local cause.
McGoff Construction Sales & Marketing Manager, Sarah Sanderson said:

With the support of Hand on Heart our ultimate aim is to ensure that all of our construction sites across the UK operate as ‘heart safe’ environments for our employees, supply chain & site visitors and to support as many local schools and community groups as we can along the way.”
Hand on Hearts Fundraising Coordinator Lesley Appleton added:

We are delighted to be working with the staff and site teams at McGoff and are very excited about helping create heart safe construction sites as well as supporting local communities to become aware of sudden cardiac arrest and to help schools receive lifesaving defibrillators and training that could one day help save a life. Statistics show us that 12 young people will lose their lives each week due to sudden cardiac arrest, having the support of McGoff will help Hand on Heart achieve their charity aims as well supporting local communities across the UK.”
