Jaguar Land Rover has submitted a planning application for a modular building that will serve as an occupational health facility as part of its continued expansion at its Whitley global headquarters

The modular building would provide additional floor space for the Coventry car maker’s occupational health department.

The new building would total 54 sq m of floor space and would complement existing occupational health facilities.

The planning application has been submitted as the occupational health department needs more space.

An application letter by planning consultants Indigo says: “The proposed development is required as the current occupational health facility is not large enough to cater for the planned treatment and health surveillance activity necessary at Whitley and the Jaguar Land Rover satellite sites.

“The proposal is to erect a modular structure next to the current occupational health building to provide additional floor space to meet the needs of the site.”

The proposed site is to the north east of the existing occupational health building and is currently described as “a vacant area of hardstanding and grass verge”.

The application points to the fact that a number of other planning applications have been approved on the site as part of Jaguar Land Rover’s expansion.

Those applications include a number of modular buildings, one including a two-storey virtual development centre, which was approved in December 2015.

The application letter adds: “The site comprises previously developed land and is located on an existing employment site.

“The proposed development will ensure that appropriate facilities are provided on-site to support the site’s employment use.

“The proposal will not result in any additional traffic movements and will not result in any loss of existing parking spaces.”

The Whitley site is one of two advanced engineering centres and is Jaguar Land Rover’s global headquarters.
