Housing association Home Group has revealed plans to deliver 49 modular homes as part of a wider development in Chatham
The affordable modular homes of shared ownership tenure will be located within Buckley House, and will consist of a mix of one and two bedroom units.
The six-storey building forms part of Kitchener Barracks, a 4.8-acre site with 302 residential units that will be delivered by modular developer Top Hat.
Kitchener Barracks has a rich military heritage and now, over 250 years since the barracks buildings were originally built, this local landmark is being transformed into a vibrant new community with updated and refurbished buildings taking centre stage.
Brian Ham, Executive Director Development at Home Group, said: “This is a wonderful development opportunity and we are delighted to be working with Top Hat, whose emerging reputation as a high quality manufacturer and builder of modular homes is widely recognised.
“Providing high quality modular homes to scale is a key focus for us, as is shown in our outstanding Gateshead Innovation Village project. This development partnership further cements our commitment.”
Completion is due in phases, culminating Spring 2021.
