Laing O’Rourke boss joins Kier

Kier Group has appointed Liam Cummins as group managing director of Kier Construction, he will succeed Peter Young who will be leaving the company

Liam Cummins has spent the past 16 years with Laing O’Rourke, most recently leading its UK building division. He also has a wealth of experience in leading high profile projects to both public and private sector clients across the UK.

As a quantity surveyor graduate, Cummins started his career at Serco before being appointed as managing director of the Asset Services business at John Mowlem and joining Laing O’Rourke in 2004.

He has spent time as a director, leading businesses in both Australia and the Middle East, as well as in his current UK focused role.

He joins Kier as group managing director to lead its construction business delivering key projects including the P2 building at Kings Cross, the new home for US Air Force F-35 Fighter Jet at RAF Lakenheath and the Braintree town centre redevelopment.
