Surrey-based PCR Projects, a home counties property developer has decided to use Actis Hybrid insulation products on all of its future developments

PCR Projects has just completed a 43-home timber frame development in Garlinge in Kent – a mixture of two, three- and four-bedroom houses and some affordable two-bedroom apartments.

All were insulated with honeycomb insulation 125mm Actis Hybris in the walls and 90mm Hybris and insulating vapour control layer HControl Hybrid in the roofs.

Owners have already moved into the first tranche of homes, with just four left to complete.

The developer’s first foray into the world of Actis insulation began at a nine-home development in Walmer also in Kent – and the company was so impressed it immediately chose the same products for its larger scheme.

Prices for the houses range from £280,000 to £400,000, while the flats are available through affordable homes specialist Landspeed Homes on a shared equity or shared ownership basis.

At around 75% of market value, they are being offered to people with connections to the Thanet District Council area who would otherwise be unable to buy a similar property on the open market.

PCR Projects, which worked with Ramsgate-based timber frame specialist LNM Structures to create the homes, is now looking forward to creating its next thermally efficient development in the area.

A clear time saver

PCR Projects’ site manager, Tony Byron-Cooper, said: “We’ve found it to be a big labour time saver as it’s so quick and easy to install and achieves a better seal into timber frame as opposed to sheet insulation material.

“We have found just being able to store it easily is a bonus. Also, any waste is easy to dispose of. A big plus and, most importantly health and safety-wise for our installers, it is light, easy to handle and there’s no dust to contend with.

“Therefore, we will now be using Actis in all our future projects.”
