Bruntwood Works and Trafford Council are set to transform the former Kellogg’s site in Old Trafford, Stretford into a new neighbourhood, Lumina Village
The mixed-use development plans, which were put forward by the joint venture between Bruntwood Works and Trafford Council have been secured by Trafford’s planning committee.
The new Lumina Village development will see the 12-acre site transformed to create a community of 750 homes, 200,000 sq ft of office space, a primary school and 100-bedroom hotel.
Local employment
The approval of the neighbourhood’s development will create an anticipated 2,261 jobs and benefit Trafford by an estimated £18m per year during the construction phase.
Once complete, residents within the new homes are estimated to spend £11.2m per year in the local area, while the proposed commercial accommodation is expected to facilitate a GVA of circa £50m per year.
The proposals were submitted for the 12-acre site in February after consultation with local residents and will provide much-needed housing – 15% of which will be designated affordable homes – local amenities and improve community use of the area surrounding the University Academy 92 building.
