Leeds City College has appointed G&H Maintenance to manage its new purpose-built £60m campus in a two-year contract plus extension
Pre-planned, reactive and emergency call-out maintenance along with electrical installation condition reports and ductwork cleaning will be delivered.
Based in the cultural quarter of Leeds, the Quarry Hill campus houses the School of Social Science and the School of Creative Arts.
Key facilities at Quarry Hill campus include replica practical care suites so students studying health science and social care receive a realistic experience of their future working environment.
Creative arts students benefit from a 200-seat theatre complete with backstage technical equipment, recording and filming studios, costume workshop, dance studios, newsroom and gallery spaces. Communal features include childcare facilities, medical areas and a café – all of the above will be managed by G&H Maintenance.
G&H Maintenance will also ensure the site is fully compliant with current regulations and issue certifications for services such as natural gas, refrigeration and water hygiene.
Maintaining an optimum environment
Director of G&H Maintenance, David Ridsdale, said: “We have worked with Leeds City College for nearly a decade and last year had our contract to manage 12 of its sites extended by three years.
“This additional appointment to oversee the new Quarry Hill campus underlines the high quality work we deliver day in, day out, year after year. Around 3,800 students and 250 members of staff are based at the new campus so it is vital the building is always fully functional and working at its best.
“Ensuring the optimum environment for students to learn in is vital while a pre-planned maintenance regime is the most cost-effective way for the college to protect the investment in its assets.”
