Ringley Group has appointed Jon Curtis as head of its building engineering division to spearhead its response to the cladding crisis

Jon Curtis, who has presented to Government ministers on issues relating to the EWS1 (External Wall System) forms, will spearhead Ringley’s response to the cladding crisis.

The London-headquartered residential property consultancy, which manages over 12,000 homes across the UK, estimates nearly a fifth of its managed portfolio has been impacted.

At Ringley, Jon Curtis will manage a number of project teams responsible for assisting leaseholders and building owners with cladding-related issues, as well as refurbishment projects, defects diagnosis and other risk assessments.

Curtis joins Ringley from Spencer Lockwood, where he was head of surveying for three years.

Prior to Spencer Lockwood, he was a building surveyor at Pegasi Management Company for more than 20 years.

Responding to the cladding crisis

Jon Curtis, head of building engineering at Ringley Group, said: “In recent weeks the sheer scale of the cladding crisis has become clear, with close to 3,000 buildings registering for the government’s building safety fund.

“Working closely with Ringley’s senior leadership and also the block management team, I will be spearheading the company’s response to the cladding crisis while also assisting leaseholders more generally with other issues they may face regarding their building.”

Mary-Anne Bowring, group managing director of Ringley, added: “Despite the pandemic Ringley has continued to grow and we’re thrilled to be welcoming Jon as the new head of building engineering.

“Jon brings with him immense expertise and an intimate understanding of the EWS1 process that will prove hugely valuable as we continue to roll out our own response to the cladding crisis.

“However, this cannot be solved by the private sector alone and we need to see far greater and more urgent action from the government in tackling these issues head on.”
