Wates delivered the £1.6m project through the North West Construction Hub framework on behalf of Trafford Council and has provided four additional classrooms as well as new WC facilities
This Worthington Primary School extension has enabled the school to increase its annual admissions rate from 45 to 60.
The school remained in occupation for teachers and key workers throughout construction, which harnessed new site operating procedures due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and work was completed with no delays.
A number of social enterprises were appointed as part of its project supply chain and despite restrictions caused by the pandemic, was still able to participate in initiatives that would benefit local people.
This included recycling construction waste into fence panels and planters and providing external paving outside the home of an NHS worker to improve their access.
Progress against all timescales
Richard Evans, key account director, Wates Smartspace, said: “The success of this project can be seen in the quality of the extension at the school and how it is already enabling more children to thrive in education.
