Later living Chelmsford scheme

Anchor Hanover, with newly appointed build partner Hill, has started construction in Chelmsford to create 82 new homes for over 65s

The new development is part of the organisation’s ambitious vision to provide 3,200 homes for older people across the UK in the next seven years.

The 1.59-acre site in Chelmsford is part of the masterplan joint venture, Beaulieu, between Countryside Properties and L&Q to create over 3,600 homes and amenities.

Hill anticipates that for this project, over 5% of their workforce will consist of apprentices, helping to provide employment opportunities to the talent of tomorrow.

The new homes will be part of the vibrant new integrated community for the city of Chelmsford, where residents will be surrounded by architecture, well-maintained landscapes and open space, excellent amenities, new transport connections, sports clubs and community gardens.

A landmark development for Chelmsford

Anchor Hanover’s head of new business, Charles Taylor, said: “Construction is now underway, and we look forward to working with Hill to provide future owners with more suitable homes where they love living in later life.

“The new land has been carefully considered to ensure residents are within close proximity of local amenities and transport links.

“Our new community will also be home to an onsite bistro, a communal lounge, hair and beauty facilities and a guest suite. We expect to be welcoming the first new residents in early 2023.

“This development in Chelmsford is a vital land parcel in helping us achieve Anchor Hanover’s clear vision for developing more homes. In line with these growth plans, we are on a drive to identify further land opportunities to fulfil our build programme objectives.

“We have an initial focus in areas where we already have a significant presence, and we are looking to pursue sites in residential, suburban and urban locations with a minimum of 1.5 acres.”

Simon Trice, managing director of Hill Partnerships, added: “Beaulieu is already a significant landmark development for Chelmsford with a great many assets that make it an outstanding place for people to live.

“We are very pleased to be working with Anchor Hanover on this exciting scheme that will enhance the community and secure much needed homes for the over 65’s.”
