Barry Woods, builder and developer, explains the benefits of working with Structural Warranty provider Advantage Home Construction Insurance (AHCI) at the Gainsborough Park Development in Abergele, North Wales
Barry is a small builder and developer currently situated in North Wales. Barry came to North Wales around 15 years ago, when he had the opportunity to purchase a site in Llandudno, which his company developed into 17 apartments.

“This is going to be our flagship development. We’ve got a manor-house conversion here, a beautiful red brick building.

“The timeline of the development is that we’ve got just over two years left. In the past, we had significant problems with kids and vagrants coming onto the site – who tried to burn the building down.
“Everything that could burn did burn, so it’s all got new floors, new roof, new windows – a significant restoration. It’s around 15,000 sqft, there are only six apartments in it, so you can imagine what size they are. They range from about 1800-2300 sqft.”

“We’re hoping the Gainsborough Park Development will help the community by creating bungalows for the retirement market.
“I’ve known Dave and Keith for a few years, and I worked with Dave when he was doing warranties for another company. We became friendly, and I’ve almost been on the journey with them as they’ve started Advantage.
“They’ve done well to deliver what they have in such a short period of time. They’ve supported me beyond here, and development in Southport, another one in Formby, and I’m doing a build with them in Liverpool, so we’re significantly intertwined.
“They don’t mess about; you know what you’re getting, and they’ve got a nice, easy way about them, which is what life should be all about.”
