The development is one of the 30 garden villages across the country. Completely landscape-driven from an architectural perspective, West Carclaze garden village is built of high-quality houses which are energy efficient.
Barry explains: “We’re building on old clay sites and remediating them, so much work goes into the ground before we can actually build the house.”
“Homes England was looking to get involved with providing more houses in Cornwall, and we were looking at different sites, and remediate sites that will never be used again was a good proposition. Homes England has enabled several of our project development areas, like new roads and everything else, with some funding. We’re creating jobs here, and we’re creating houses that people can buy.
“A high percentage of the houses we’ve sold here are for local people, not from people upcountry. And we’re finding very few people that are looking at it as a holiday destination.”

“West Carclaze is a garden village that people want to come and live in. It’s an area where we’re building a real community rather than just a housing site.
