The building control teams from six Midlands councils have teamed up to share their knowledge and expertise with the launch of the Central Building Control Partnership

The new Central Building Control Partnership service is hosted by Lichfield District Council who is joined by Tamworth Borough Council, South Staffordshire Council, South Derbyshire District Council, Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council and North Warwickshire Borough Council.

Central Building Control Partnership aims to provide a seamless and consistent service to make sure projects meet national building standards.

There will be a single application process across the six areas covered by the partnership, faster plan checking, a single point of contact, lower prices in some areas, and more flexibility when arranging site inspections with the local team.

Manager Ged Cooper, said: “We’re delighted to be launching the brand new partnership and to welcome the new councils into the team. Together we offer highly trained staff with unrivalled local knowledge and resources. We cover all projects, including domestic, residential, commercial, industrial and more.

“We are looking forward to making sure that building projects across Southern Staffordshire, South Derbyshire and Northern Warwickshire are safe and up to standard, and to welcoming new customers to our not-for-profit building control service.”
