An increasing presence in and around the East Midland and East Anglian region, local business Mick George Ltd is certainly justifying its attendance, with yet another community fund donation to seventeen separate developments.
The first of two annual ‘Community Fund’ announcements, the organisation is set to provide funding to an abundance of community based initiatives, to a value in its entirety that surpasses £460,000, with some of the fortunate recipients based in the Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire and Bedfordshire territory.
The beneficiaries span a wide nature of sports and community projects, that will prove advantageous to variance audiences. These include:

Cam Whyld, Head of Engagement & Communications at Northampton Partnership Homes: “The installation of playground equipment and seating will provide the Spring Boroughs community with a place to meet and a place for parents and carers to sit and socialise while their children play, run and climb in a dedicated outdoor space.
The need for a playground has been voiced by the local community and resident’s association and recognised in the local Neighbourhood Plan.
Using the grant from Mick George, Northampton Partnership Homes are looking forward to working with the community to make this project become a reality.”
John Corras, Chairman at Weldon Cricket Club: “The members and players are very happy to have been given the grant award, as it will make a huge difference to our volunteers and the teams here at Weldon. With this grant, we will be able to purchase vital equipment to ensure the longevity of our ground.”
Gary Berridge, Secretary and Treasurer at Oakham Angling Society said: “Thank you so much to Mick George Ltd for supporting our application. This is transformational for the Oakham Angling Societies future. It will enable us to double the availability of fishing and bring about much needed improvement to an ancient stretch of canal for which we wish to develop the fishing and the associated environment.”
Jonathan Taylor, Senior Site Manager at RSPB Ouse Washes nature reserve: “We’re delighted to receive this generous grant from the Mick George Community Fund. This money will help us make some real improvements for people visiting the Ouse Washes, providing them with a warm welcome and encouraging them to take time to enjoy the wonderful wildlife found at this special place.”
Geoff Curtis, President Bluntisham Cricket Club: “The club is delighted beyond measure to have received confirmation of funding by Mick George for our new twin lane all weather practice facility. To receive support from a company of the stature of Mick George is a huge accolade for the club and this will now provide the foundation for BCC to become a centre of excellence for cricket in the area.”

Julian Young, Chairman, Chatteris Town Football Club: “Chatteris Town FC grassroots footballers thank Mick George for their generous and invaluable help with refurbishing both the clubroom and car-park. Improved facilities will continue the Club’s drive to promote our sport, healthy exercise for all ages, and to offer the town a bright community social facility.”
Matthew Bradbury, Chief Executive, Nene Park Trust: “We are extremely thankful to receive funding from the Mick George Community Fund towards our Bringing Nature Closer habitat restoration project. This project will create and enhance wildlife-rich habitats within our flood meadows situated beside the River Nene. With the money from Mick George, we can now build the infrastructure that will allow our visitors to view and be inspired by natures spectacle over these meadows in the heart of Ferry Meadows Country Park.”
