48 developers have now signed the building safety repairs pledge, committing to remediate life-critical fire safety works in buildings over 11 metres

Back in January (2022) the Secretary of State for the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities set out the building safety repairs pledge to establish that leaseholders must be protected from the costs of remediation of life-critical fire safety defects and that the industry responsible should pay to fix the problems it created.

48 developers have now signed the pledge committing to remediate works in buildings over 11 metres that they have developed or refurbished in the last 30 years. They have also agreed to reimburse any government funding received from remediation programmes.

Following their commitment, the developers will sign a legally binding contract and will be required to inform leaseholders in affected buildings how they will be meeting the pledge.
