Mick George Ltd discuss their charity work with ‘Macmillan Cancer Support’, and the ‘British Heart Foundation’.
For the past two years, Mick George Ltd has provided financial support to a value in excess of £250,000, as part of its ‘Charity of the Year’ commitments, to Sue Ryder and Addenbrookes Charitable Trust, respectively.
And the business seems to have upped the stakes for 2017, with the announcement that Mick George Ltd has formed a coalition with, not one, but two, major national charities, providing support on a regional level.
Mick George Ltd has pledged to donate funds to both, ‘Macmillan Cancer Support’, and the ‘British Heart Foundation’. To kick-start the initiative, the company has already pledged £1,500 to each, from recent fundraising activities that were pursued at Peterborough United FC and Truckfest last month.
British Heart Foundation
With over 50 years of funding cutting edge research, the ‘British Heart Foundation’ has established itself as the UK’s number one heart charity, but still faces a tough task in leading the fight against Coronary heart disease, the UK’s single biggest killer.
Nigel Cole, Fundraising Manager at British Heart Foundation stated: ‘‘Everyone here at the BHF is excited about working with Mick George. We are looking forward to exploring the synergy between two top brands in their respective fields and hopefully having lots of fun on the way. The opportunity to engage with all the team at Mick George is something I’m personally eager to develop, together we can make such a difference to the huge group of people living with heart disease across the UK today.”
Macmillan Cancer Support
Meanwhile, ‘Macmillan Cancer Support’ has a slightly different mission, yet of equal significance. The charity recognises that life with Cancer is still life, and they’ll do what they can to help people live with it. Right from the moment patients are diagnosed, through treatment and beyond, ‘Macmillan’ is a constant source of support, giving the energy and inspiration to help those affected, take back control of life, to feel more like themselves again.
Claire Singlehurst, Director of Relationship Fundraising at Macmillan Cancer Support, stated: “We would like to thank Mick George Ltd for choosing Macmillan Cancer Support as one of their Charity Partners during 2017/18. Their involvement and commitment will help us provide support and services for people, their friends and families living with cancer. We are looking forward to working with them and developing an exciting programme of activity over the next 12 months.’’
Particularly familiar in supporting local causes, and community projects, Mick George Ltd has already set to work on generating extra money for each cause, with the ‘Wear it, Beat it’ campaign on Friday 9th June, the inaugural challenge for staff participation. This will continue throughout the year, with employees, management and directors each encouraged to get involved.
Jon Stump, Finance Director at Mick George Ltd commented: ‘’The business was inundated with applications for our ‘Charity of the Year’ status. With so many worthwhile causes, it was difficult to shortlist and for that reason took the decision to have multiple.’’
Stump continued: ‘’We have witnessed first-hand what our assistance in previous years has helped to achieve, and it’s always a pleasure to be involved. The two charities selected do an amazing job to help overcome health related issues. Anything we can do in partnership to help combat, would always be welcomed.’’
