BIM hospital project bid race underway

University College London Hospitals NHS Trust has called for contractors to put in their bids for a £50m BIM project…

The £50m project will see the University College London Hospitals NHS Trust’s Royal National Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital and the Eastman Dental Hospital combined on a new site. It will utilise BIM to design and tender the scheme.

It is expected work on the project will start in February 2016 and will take two years to complete. Pre-qualification questionnaires are on the procurement portal. Additionally, PPQs can be obtained by emailing alan.saunders@sweettgroup.com.

It will be one of the first health projects to achieve BIM maturity level 3, and it will be the first BIM building managed by University College London Hospitals NHS Trust. Sweett Group will also develop BIM protocols.

The facility will comprise of 8 floors, with diagnostic capabilities and day treatment for outpatients. This will be housed over a 100,000 sq ft of space. It will sit of the site of the former UCL student union on Huntley Street and will replace a four storey and basement level brick building.

The project manager for the project will be RCPM. The phase 5 project was also designed by Steffian Bradley Architects.
