A BIM Level 2 Roadmap will be presented during Digital Construction week, outlining how the field can continue to develop and grow

The chair of the UK BIM Alliance and fellow of Atkins is expected to set out a Roadmap for BIM Level 2 on the first day of Digital Construction Week, which starts tomorrow.

Anne Kemp will deliver a keynote speech on the future of BIM Level 2 during the event, which takes place on 26 October at the Business Design Centre, Islington. She will outline the government mandate for all companies and sectors within the supply chain, as well as discussing the role of the UK BIM Alliance.

ICE Conference workshops highlighted barriers

It is also expected Kemp will present feedback from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Annual Conference, which was held earlier this month. During this event the UK BIM Alliance hosted six afternoon workshops, focusing on opportunities as well as the barriers facing the implementation of BIM Level 2.

Discussing her keynote presentation, Kemp said: “I’m honoured to be giving a keynote speech at Digital Construction Week on behalf of the UK BIM Alliance. The implementation of BIM Level 2 is integral to the future of our industry.

“We want BIM Level 2 to be ‘business as usual’ by 2020. In an industry of over 2.1m people, our mission is to enable all actors to recognise and understand the value of a digitally enabled sector.”

Digital Construction Week

Digital Construction Week is in its second year and is aimed at the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. It will bring together experts to discuss the impact of technology and innovation on the built environment.
