Man and Machine unveil their plans for the pan-European BIM Ready Program, providing a foundation for delivering this national construction aspirations.
When one realises the significant ambitions of UK Government to build more houses, develop cheaper energy and provide more capacity in the transport system with projects like Crossrail and HS2, the Construction sector is significantly important in achieving those goals.
A huge £500bn pipeline of work and aspirations to build over 250,000 houses a year represents a great opportunity for the UK construction industry to automate, industrialise and develop more efficient methods of working. BIM has the potential to provide a foundation for delivering this outcome.
To address this Man and Machine, a member of building SMART and one of the UK’s leading BIM specialists has invested heavily in a pan-European training program called BIM Ready. It aims to address the skills shortage to help ensure the successful adoption of BIM in the UK. It is now about to launch the 2nd Generation of its BIM Ready Program.

“Our BIM Ready Program has got rave reviews from clients across Europe and whilst the course content in each country differs in exact composition, the learning outcomes are very consistent. Specifically, in the UK, we have learnt that your view of BIM depends very much on your role and function in a BIM project. A BIM Information Manager, a cost estimator, an architect and a door manufacturer will all have different views on what BIM is and what it means to them.”
He goes on to explain, “In order to address these different perceptions of what BIM is, we have tried to construct courses in way that brings each module to life through technology demonstration and those demonstrations will vary on each course depending on the role of the attendees.”
