The BIM Regional Hubs have been relaunched under a new name, the BIM Regions…

BIM is set to undergo a facelift, as the BIM Regional Hubs are rebranded and relaunched as the BIM Regions.

The change forms part of the sector’s desire to drive forward and raise awareness of BIM. The BIM Regions aims to develop a digitally enabled world-class AECO (Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Owner-operated) industry.

BIM has continued to grow from strength to strength over the last few years and has gained significant support from the government. As the industry moves hitting Level 2 compliance, BIM has become an integral part of the construction process.

The BIM Regional Hubs were originally set up in 2012 in partnership with the Construction Industry Council and the BIM Task Group. Its role is to support the UK BIM programme by providing regional and local networks to help those who want to gain a greater understanding of BIM.

The Regions also enable the dissemination of best practice on BIM, as well as providing feedback to the BIM Task Group and the 2016 legacy delivery teams.

Rebranding the BIM Regional Hubs will enable the industry to work effectively using digital information and tools. It will bring a refreshed strategy that will be pushed across the industry to help engage with partners and drive forward the BIM agenda.

There will also be closer collaboration with the BIM4Communities group, which will form a key element of pushing this agenda forward.

Plans for the future of the BIM Regions will be outlined further during the Digital Construction week in October.
