A new strategic partnership has been agreed between coBuilder and the Construction Products Association to help deliver key data to the UK construction sector
The Construction Products Association (CPA) and coBuilder have entered into a strategic partnership.
The CPA has pushed the development and implementation of LEXiCON—a plain language approach to product data definition and exchange in the UK. Now, the CPA will work via a strategic partnership with coBuilder to expand this further.
Meeting EU standards
coBuilder has worked over a number of years to develop digital content that meets the requirements set out in the Harmonised European Standards (hENs). The organisation has supported the development of LEXiCON by providing their template content from these standards, free to use with LEXiCON.
This collaboration will ensure a consistent use of product data across the UK’s construction sector while aligning it with the rest of the European Union.
Alex Small, BIM and Digital Platforms Manager at Tata Steel, said: “As a major global steel manufacturer, we want to ensure our product data is structured and named in a manner that our customers can easily digest.
“We are supporting the LEXiCON initiative to deliver consistent and agreed Product Data Templates to be used by the UK and European construction industries.
“Being able to adopt one template structure for each product type across different European countries and languages is absolutely vital for the delivery of BIM requirements.
Product Data Sheets ensure accuracy
Lars Chr. Fredenlund, CEO of coBuilder added: “The partnership with CPA will support coBuilder’s work in Europe and in the UK.
“Our www.goBIM.com platform helps manufacturers deliver accurate data, which ultimately supports LEXiCON.
“The Product Data Sheets that the manufacturers create and host in goBIM enable the supply chain to ensure the accurate delivery of COBie, FM or specification data.”
