CPMG Architects has been recognised by BSI (British Standards Institution) for its capability in the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM), receiving their BIM Certification

The firm, which has offices in Nottingham and London, received PAS 1192-2 certification for compliance with managing information for the delivery phase of construction projects. The firm joins just a small group of other British architects to hold this prestigious accolade.

Nick Gregory, director at CPMG Architects, said: “As a business, we have been committed to the development of our BIM capabilities for some time now, and it is a credit to our team we have received formal certification from BSI.

“The use of BIM is now mandatory for all suppliers tendering for public sector construction projects and this certification shows we are in a very strong position for future collaborations.”

The BSI certification was developed to provide assurance that an organisation has the capability to deliver projects using BIM – a condition of contract for publicly procured contracts introduced last year.

Nick added: “This is a fantastic achievement for CPMG, which not only demonstrates our ability to meet requirements for public sector construction projects but also highlights our technical expertise to private businesses and individuals.”

Andy Butterfield, Director of Built Environment, Product Certification at BSI said: “We’re delighted to have been able to present CPMG with this certification, which is a testament to the processes and systems they have embedded to demonstrate their capability of using BIM in the design and construction of projects.  Congratulations to all of the team for this achievement.”

Nick continued: “I am very proud of what our BIM and technical team has achieved, how they have been commended by BSI for their capability in continuing to deliver such specialist and invaluable expertise to public sector construction projects.”

BIM processes and its support technology provides a single source of information throughout a project, which can subsequently lead to cost and efficiency savings. Gaining certification requires passing a stringent on-site assessment which looks at the organisation’s processes, systems and competency requirements.
