The Norwegian construction software provider Cobuilder and the Czech Standardisation Agency have signed an agreement to support digital transformation of the Czech construction industry
The strategic partnership will support implementing an efficient information management system that will enable the adoption of a Data Standard for Building Information Model (DSBIM), known in Czech as “Datový standard staveb” or “DSS”, and a common digital language for the national construction sector.
The goal is to facilitate a seamless and transparent digital information flow across the Czech construction value chain and support the construction sector stakeholders in managing data requirements for built assets throughout their lifecycle. The collaboration includes different system integrations and implementation of the Czech Data Standard for Building Information Model (DSBIM) supported by the industry-agreed Define data dictionary and Cobuilder’s cutting-edge software solutions.
The project is expected to contribute to more efficient management of complex environmental requirements in pursuit of sustainability goals.
“The Data Standard for Building Information Model (DSBIM) is one of the key pillars in our BIM strategy to help the Czech construction industry on its way to Construction 4.0. Collaboration with Cobuilder gives us an opportunity to use proofed and powerful information systems not only to accelerate the development of the DSBIM but also open it for easy use by the whole sector. Great benefits for Czech construction
The realisation of the project is expected to create conditions for the adoption of the DSBIM in the Czech construction market, which paves the way for greater benefits: It will enable transparent information flow, consistency, and accuracy in the data, which is among the key factors for the digital transformation of the Czech construction sector.
“Industry stakeholders will have easy access to DSBIM’s database with the certainty that they always have the most up-to-date version to exchange, validate, and agree on data in a much more efficient way and benefit from one unified process of setting requirements in all public tenders. This would create conditions for numerous cost reductions and process automation. It would also empower the stakeholders to pursue higher and more accurate sustainability goals for a better and greener Czech construction sector,” says Jaroslav Nechyba.

We need ‘competent’ people doing the ‘right things’ and everyone providing evidence of such,” Brophy says.
