Through FOMT, it is now possible for project contractors to use BIM 360 technologies to measure and maintain their own processes. This helps to significantly reduce wasted resources and shorten build project times by developing as-built drawings that will accurately reflect the final model.
The key to unlocking this collaborative and project planning functionality is BIM 360, providing the necessary tools to carry out a range of functionality (for example, automatic clash detection and avoidance), thereby giving project stakeholders a platform to not only manage design information but also automatically update key project data, ensuring everyone is working to the latest version and maintaining a single source of truth.
The General Contractor becomes the keeper of all assembly and design phases, measuring all installation processes, and can also run snag or observation reports, measuring the performance of all installation phases whether subcontractors are on schedule. This highlights issues if they occur and allocates them to the relevant person or team to action and resolve within specified time parameters.
