What is BIM4Water?

BIM4Water is a cross-industry group open to all organisations involved in the management and delivery of water and wastewater assets. The group’s make up is reflective of the UK Water industry, comprising clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and other bodies.

It was established in 2013 as part of the UK government BIM Task Group programme to encourage BIM across the water sector. The group has a mission “to lead the digital transformation of the water sector through Better Information Management” and provides a focus for setting standards and best practice.

BIM4Water is governed by a Steering Group, with representatives from the owner-operators, consultants, contractors and suppliers.

In line with the current roadmap, it currently has four working groups, which are:

  • The owner-operators
  • The Standard Libraries Group
  • The Benefits & Case Studies Group
  • The 4D Group.
