Lucion Services has become the first asbestos management firm in the industry to gain BIM Level 2 certification.
The asbestos and risk management specialist achieved independent certification to the BIM Standard PAS 1192-2:2013.
From April this year, new rules require firms to be BIM Level 2 certified if they wish to work on public sector projects. Lucion Services is now able to demonstrate compliance with this mandate.
To meet compliance, Lucion developed a specialist technology for facilities managers, project managers, and safety managers to help communicate asbestos and safety risks.
The system works by linking building plans and drawings with data from asbestos surveys. Existing plans have been enhanced with 360° panoramic images and icons. This technology will help locate hazards and safety equipment, and will be linked to web-based NextGen asbestos records.
