Pat Breen T.D. Minister for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection will promote Irish capability in digital construction at Digital Construction Week
Speaking on his arrival in London, Breen said:
“This Enterprise Ireland trade visit provides an opportunity to reinforce trade links between Ireland and the UK and to raise position Enterprise Ireland client companies as partners that can contribute to the growth of the digital construction sector. I look forward to meeting with digital construction industry leaders from both the UK and Ireland over the coming days to explore new ways in which we can deepen relationships between both in the context of Brexit”.
DCW is an event for the entire built environment UK supply-chain including design, construction, engineering, management and operation. Industry stakeholders, policy-makers and business leaders from across the UK public and private sectors will gather to focus on key trends associated with innovation, technology and the digital transformation of the Built Environment.
Breen is set to address the opening of DCW where he will be joined by speaker David Philp, Head of the UK Government’s BIM Working Group.
He will also host a round table lunch with leaders of Ireland’s digital construction industry and Enterprise Ireland client companies to discuss digital industry trends in the UK and how opportunities to progress Ireland’s digital transition can be realised.
Enterprise Ireland will showcase six clients and their products and services at the Digital Construction Show where they will encourage potential UK customers to source their ‘Irish Advantage’ in the digital construction sector.
Welcoming the Irish construction companies to the Digital Construction Week event Marina Donohoe, Enterprise Ireland Director UK and Northern Europe said:
“The UK is the priority market for Irish construction companies specialising in digital and BIM, even more so since the Brexit referendum. Irish exports of construction products and services to the UK have increased by 68% over the past 5 years to €1.29Bn in 2016. Enterprise Ireland sees further opportunity for growth and has taken the lead on the digital transition agenda in Ireland which has included the formation of the National BIM Council in June 2016”.
Donohoe concluded: “Hosting 30 Enterprise Ireland clients at Digital Construction Week UK, Enterprise Ireland’s aim is to showcase the innovative capabilities of Irish companies in the digital sector and market Ireland as a credible supply source of digital products, processes and services”.
