Schiphol Airport is set to share its successful BIM stories and their experience with common standards, processes and roles at the GEO|Design+BIM event

GEO|Design+BIM event has announced Schiphol as a Content Partner.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the third largest European airport and eleventh busiest in the world, handling more than 68 million passengers a year. With a complex asset management portfolio and an intensive capital development program, Schiphol is committed to utilising BIM to keep its 80,000 individual assets in perfect shape for a smarter, smoother and more efficient passenger experience.

Alexander Worp, Strategic Advisor BIM at Schiphol said: “At Schiphol, we have realised that the geospatial information or the building information cannot provide the ultimate solutions for our information needs on their own. Therefore, we are seeking opportunities by combining the strengths of both systems, in order to make the best decisions.

“At GEO|Design+BIM, we will talk about BIM at Schiphol, as a collaborative digital system, where multiple parties work together and share their information with common standards, processes and roles.”

“The value of BIM has been realised mostly in the design and construction phase. However, it is the long term operation of the finished asset that is most important and where the greatest benefits can be achieved.

“We’re ecstatic to co-host the BIM for Facility Management program at GEO|Design+BIM with Schiphol. Success stories from Schiphol will serve as an inspiration to the facility management community at the conference,” added Anamika Das, Vice President, Outreach and Business Development at Geospatial Media and Communications, the conference organizer.

The event is scheduled to take place from 1-2 November 2018, in Amsterdam.
