The Building Innovation Awards take place on 23 October in Manchester. PBC Today is previewing each category, today focusing on Most Innovative Developer
The nominees for Most Innovative Developer are:
Home Group
Home Group is actively looking to solve the housing crisis. Its live research project, Gateshead Innovation Village, has created 41 homes for affordable rent and is testing a range of Modern Methods of Construction and smart and energy-efficient technologies all on one site. By investigating how to create quality homes more quickly and efficiently, Home Group aims to inspire change in the industry, while expanding their own portfolio of homes built using modern methods.
Innerspace homes
Innovation and technology have revolutionised every industry. So why on earth are we still building houses the same way we built them 100 years ago? Innerspace homes is a new generation of housebuilder, using innovative modular technology to create design-led, sustainable and customisable homes fit for the 21st century. Its purpose is to build homes that make lives better for people and our planet. No nonsense, just better homes from a company with a conscience.
Swan Housing Association
Trailblazer Swan Housing Association is championing the benefits of modular innovation to support the delivery of affordable homes. It has not only invested £3m in its own factory in Basildon, Essex, and is using it to deliver high-quality, precision-engineered volumetric modular homes from cross-laminated timber (CLT) but also has welcomed over 500 people to the factory, contributed widely to thought leadership to educate the sector and launched a modular housing guide.
The winner will be announced at a gala dinner being held at The Midland Hotel, Manchester, on 23 October.
