Insulation for business efficiency

1095

With many energy saving insulation solutions readily available for business premises, significant savings can be made on energy bills…

Although warmer weather is on the way, the National Insulation Association (NIA) is advising that now is the perfect time for businesses to invest in insulation in order to counter rising energy costs and increase business efficiency. Neil Marshall Chief Executive of the NIA commented; “There are rising costs in many areas of business, and businesses should not wait a moment longer to put these simple money-saving measures into place to combat these.”

The way a building is constructed and type of fuel used, all contribute to its energy costs. A worrying fact is that a significant proportion of the money spent on energy is actually being wasted as a result of inadequate levels of insulation, with around 55% of the heat being lost through un-insulated roof and walls alone.
Many small businesses such as shops, pubs, clubs and offices have similar characteristics to domestic residential properties and can benefit from basic insulation measures.

The savings can be significant, the Energy Saving Trust reports that by simply installing Cavity Wall Insulation savings of up to £275* per year can be made and £240* per year from Loft Insulation. Draught-proofing windows and doors can save £25* to £50* per year and when installed with other measures will greatly increase the comfort. The savings are even greater for insulating solid walls up to £455* per year.

According to a recent study by the Department of Energy and Climate Change, based on experience, the average SME could reduce its energy bill by 18-25% by installing energy efficiency measures.**

The Next Step:
NIA installer members provide free surveys and quotations and are experienced in recommending the most suitable and practical insulation options for each individual property type. The NIA recommends contacting one of its installer members as they are trained to the highest standards and also governed by a strict Code of Professional Practice meaning peace of mind comes as standard.
